Fracture Clinic Plaster Nurse- Part-time (4 hours per week) – Health New Lynn

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage fracture clinic,
  • Apply, adjust, and remove plaster casts and splints with precision and care.
  • Educate patients and their families on proper cast and splint care, including hygiene, mobility restrictions, and warning signs of complications.
  • Assess and monitor patients for signs of discomfort, skin irritation, or other complications related to immobilization.
  • Assist in the preparation and positioning of patients for casting procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper sterilization of equipment and supplies.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for colleagues, providing guidance and support in the application, adjustment, and removal of plaster casts and splints.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the department.

Our successful applicant will have:

  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate from New Zealand Nursing Council
  • Current experience in orthopedics and casting.
  • A high degree of autonomy, with great assessment and time management skills
  • Experience working with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds
