About us
Totara Clinical Research Ltd, trading as Southern Clinical Trials Totara, was formed in 2016 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Health New Lynn, located within the practice.
The Health New Lynn board saw clinical trials as an opportunity to assist in the advancement of medical knowledge and patient care. Trials are identified that are a good fit for our patients, attempting to solve problems that are common to GPs.
Trials
All clinical trials are governed by a study protocol which outlines the design of the study, its objectives and methodology.
At the beginning of a clinical trial, the research team checks the health of the participant and gives specific instructions for using the treatment, medication or device throughout the trial.Participants are advised of any possible risks.
The team monitors the participant as the trial progresses and stays in touch after the trial is completed.
Study participants are attracted by being able to access new research treatments before they are widely available, and by the thought that involvement may also help others by contributing to medical research.
