July Health and Wellness update

Updates

Kia ora koutou,

We hope you are staying warm and well as the cold weather has now really set in. We wanted to provide you with some updates on what’s happening at Health New Lynn.

To keep up with the latest, be sure to follow us on Facebook.

Check your details
Last week you may have received an email from us, asking to check your details, but found you couldn’t reply – our apologies for the confusion. If you spot anything that may have changed (including phone number, address, or next of kin), please let our reception team know next time you come to visit, and we will update that for you.

CareHQ
CareHQ is an online GP (General Medical Practitioner) telehealth service that provides individuals and whānau with access to medical services (GP) seven days a week. They offer virtual consultations with doctors to all Health New Lynn patients, at no extra cost, within the next day or two.

If you can’t get in to see your GP, please talk to our reception team about booking with CareHQ by calling us on (09) 827 8888.

Access to appointments
To ensure we can continue to take care of all our patients as required, please be sure to turn up to your booked appointments.

As you can understand, appointments are currently in high demand. If you find yourself in the position where you can no longer make your scheduled appointment, please contact us to let us know as soon as possible, so we can cancel or reschedule your appointment, and release this for another patient.

We appreciate your help in keeping appointments available for those who need them.

Our practice team work hard to get to your calls as soon as possible.

Callback service and patient portal
However, we now have the option of a callback service, where you can keep your place in the queue without having to stay on the line.

To further help with wait times, we encourage and remind all patients to use the patient portal as much as possible. Here you can make appointments, check your test results, and request repeat prescriptions.

If you have not yet signed up for MyIndici as a registered patient, you can do so here.

Changes to Acute Care services
We have made changes to our Acute Care service. We are now offering same day Acute Care services Monday to Friday, 8am – 4.30pm, and Saturdays from 9am – 2pm.

Please note, there is a limit to the number of patients we can see in one day and we are not able to accept further patients via Acute Care once we are at capacity.

If we cannot see you, we recommend you consider telehealth services through Whakarongorau or CareHQ. Urgent Care services are available at White Cross New Lynn (2140 Great North Road). Alternatively, Healthline (0800 611 116) provide free advice by a registered nurse.

Updates to our team
We will shortly be bidding farewell to the wonderful Dr Abby North, who will be finishing up with us on 2 August. We want to say a huge thank you to Dr Abby for her support and dedication to her patients.

If you normally see Dr Abby as your Doctor, you will be able to select another GP when you book your next appointment.

If you need help selecting a GP that suits your needs, please contact our friendly reception team to have a chat.

We are excited to share that we will have a new Clinical Pharmacist starting on 5 August, who will be able to help you and your whānau understand your medicine(s) and answer any questions you may have. You’ll see them around Health New Lynn over the coming weeks. Additionally, Dr Vicky MacDonald will be on leave for three months from next week, but our other doctors will be available to see you during her absence.

As usual, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our reception team on 09 827 8888 or email welcome@healthnewlynn.co.nz.

Ngā mihi,
The Health New Lynn Medical Centre Team
