A HIP can see people of all ages and at all stages of their lives and help with any type of issue related to behaviour change or mental wellbeing. A typical consultation with a health improvement practitioner will take about 30 minutes and is usually focused on short interventions that are proven to work.

Please speak to the reception team if you have any questions, or call our friendly team to book an appointment.
Health New Lynn is a teaching practice
Teaching practices have to achieve the highest quality standards to be accredited. This means from time to time we have medical and nursing students observing, learning and working with us. Registrar doctors will also be working with us. These doctors are qualified doctors who are working towards their specialist general practice qualification which is a further three years training after they first graduate as doctors. They are supervised by a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners who practice in the centre.
Diabetes management
Diabetes is a common condition that affects how the body controls the blood sugar. Our staff at Health New Lynn are trained to diagnose and treat your diabetes.
They can help in consultation with your doctor to manage your diabetic treatment whether it be tablets or insulin injections.
Enhancing your care with digital solutions
Some of our team may use AI during your appointment to assist in your care. We will make sure you are comfortable with this before your appointment. This is your choice, and you can withdraw your consent at any point.
AI can help our staff focus more on you, instead of the computer during your visit. It assists our team to manage their time better, hopefully reducing wait times for you. AI also helps in creating more detailed patient notes, allowing our team to provide you with better, more informed care.
