At Health New Lynn, we remain committed to delivering accessible, high-quality, and patient-centred care to our community. Over the past months, we have actively worked on expanding our clinical team to better meet the needs of our growing patient population – meet some of the new team below!
To improve access for our enrolled patients, we have been focused on recruiting highly skilled General Practitioners (GPs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Nurse Prescribers. Practitioners who are not only experienced but also passionate about providing holistic, comprehensive healthcare to our community. We are pleased to share that we’ve made significant progress, welcoming several new clinicians with a broad range of expertise and a strong dedication to patient wellbeing.
Our vision for 2026 – Improving patient access and continuity of care
Looking ahead, our goal is to ensure that every patient receives timely, continuous, and personalised care. By 2026, we aim to:
- Reduce wait times in our walk-in clinics
- Increase availability of GP appointments
- Enhance continuity of care by assigning patients with high health needs to a dedicated GP
- Extend our walk-in clinic hours until 6pm to improve after-hours access
- Increase the number of GPs available to ensure better availability and follow-up
- Deliver comprehensive care to our Health New Lynn patients, with the goal of improving health outcomes while reducing morbidity and hospital admissions.
We also aim to launch nurse-led clinics focusing on specific health needs such as:
- Sexual health and contraception
- Asthma management
- Diabetes care and education
- Palliative care
- Child immunisation.
These initiatives are part of our strategic commitment to improving health outcomes by making healthcare more accessible and patient focused.

Who should I see?
When you enrol at Health New Lynn, your care will be provided by our dedicated team of doctors and healthcare professionals, including Nurse Practitioners, and Nurse Prescribers, which can lead to being seen sooner. Check out some of the ways they can help you below.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
NPs are expert nurses with advanced clinical training and a master’s degree. They work independently and provide care similar to GPs. This includes diagnosing health conditions, ordering and interpreting tests, prescribing medications, and managing treatment plans.
Nurse Prescribers
Nurse Prescribers are Registered Nurses with additional training in assessment and diagnosis. They can prescribe selected medications and often see patients for common illnesses, minor injuries, and long-term conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
No matter who you see, you’ll be in safe hands. Our team works together to ensure you get the right care, at the right time.
Thank you for your ongoing trust and support. With a growing team and an ambitious roadmap ahead, we are confident that the care experience at Health New Lynn will continue to improve – providing you and your whānau with the care you deserve, when you need it.
